Meaningful Family Experiences: Curating Memories for Kids

One of my favorite things to do as a mom is curate experiences for my kids. It’s nothing like hearing “ Mommy, I had so much fun” or “when are we doing this again” after creating a memory with them. I want to make sure they enjoy and experience everything. From traveling to a simple daily activity. We either, intentionally or un-intentionally, want to raise our kids two way: Giving them they type of life you experience as a child going up OR the complete opposite in which we are trying to give them what we didn’t have.

  • Starting Fresh: Overcoming Parenthood Stress

    Starting Fresh: Overcoming Parenthood Stress

We all know life is HARD and when you add parenthood on top of it, it’s EXTRA hard. When I was pregnant with my now 1 year old, it was tough. I was struggling because it was not going as smoothly as my first pregnancy. It was also my first pregnancy after a miscarriage, and I was riddled with anxiety. My 12 year old was having issues in school, and I was trying to balance my relationship as well. Needless to say, I was STRESSED.

I learned how to start fresh at any point in my day. Initially, I sought refuge in my shower. It was my way to be alone during my pregnancy. I would step into the shower in the middle of the day. I would cry. Then, I would pray for the strength to keep going. But afterwards I literally felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. I felt fresh and ready to tackle the day again.

Now, my start over routine consist:

    1. Run – I run for 20 to 30 minutes to relieve work stress
    2. Shower – I take a shower any point in my day when I am feeling overwhelmed
    3. Reading – I love reading! A good fantasy book allows me escape life for 30 minutes out my day

Each person’s routine will look different. I learned that you don’t have to wait for the next day. You don’t need to wait for the next month or a new year to start fresh. When we are feeling overburdened minor overwhelmed, consider breaking the ‘wait’ cycle by starting over right away.
